The Moguls
DVD caps and a video clip
Lauren Graham has only a small part in this movie. She is in only 4 scenes and has only two scenes where she speaks.
The original title for the movie was "The Moguls", and was the title used at its first few US showings and its UK showings. It was later renamed "The Amateurs" .
This movie was first shown at film festivals in the United States in 2005-2006, then has a very limited release in US theaters in Jan 2007. It was released in theaters in the UK in April 2006. It was available on DVD in the UK and Australia. It is currently not available on DVD in the US.
This was an independent movie with a large well known cast that included: Jeff Bridges, Joe Pantolino, Ted Danson, Lauren Graham, Jeanne Triplehorn, Steven Weber, Brad Garrett, Isaiah Washington, and Valerie Perine.
The movie is about a guy from small town America, played by Jeff Bridges, who has had bad luck with business schemes all his life. He talks his friends, who are just a bunch of guys who play on a bar softball team, into making an adult movie. The problem is no one knows what they are doing. There is no nudity is the movie, but it is rated R for strong language and implied sexual situations. Lauren Graham plays Peggy, a single mom who works at the food stand at the local softball field. Peggy is the prettiest girl in town, and many years ago had her picture in Playboy in one of the special "girls of" issues. Jeff Bridges' character wants to ask her to be in the movie he is making, but he gets tongue-tied when he tries to ask her, because he likes her. This scene is the longest scene Lauren is in for this movie, and it really shows how good Lauren's acting talents are.
